先前有對應PC串流遊玩的非官方Remote Play版本推出後，Sony隨後也證實將推出支援Windows PC與Mac的官方版Remote Play功能，讓玩家能透過Wi-Fi串流方式將PlayStation 4執行遊戲內容傳送至Windows PC或Mac裝置上進行遊玩。
不亞於微軟開放將Xbox One遊戲串流至各類Windows 10平台裝置上遊玩應用模式，Sony全球工作室總裁吉田修平稍早透過個人Twitter證實，目前已經著手投入支援Windows PC與Mac的官方版Remote Play功能，未來將可讓玩家透過Wi-Fi串流方式將PlayStation 4執行遊戲內容傳送至Windows PC或Mac裝置上進行遊玩。
不過，吉田修平暫時未透露此項功能具體釋出時程，同時也未確認在對應Windows PC與Mac的Remote Play模式中，是否也能使用PlayStation 4平台功能。目前PlayStation 4所推行Remote Play功能，暫時僅對應PlayStation Vita與安裝Remote Play App的特定Android平台裝置。
而在此之前，Sony方面也在相關訪談證實投入讓PlayStation 4以軟體模擬方式向下相容PlayStation，以及PlayStation 2平台遊戲，但尚未支援相對複雜的PlayStation 3平台遊戲，而此項功能可能最快將在年底前公布，預期新版Remote play功能也會在相同時間點揭曉。
