在上周遭董事會突發開除，並且由微軟執行長Satya Nadella招募加入新成立的先進人工智慧研究團隊之後，Sam Altman確認在OpenAI董事會改組前提下，將回歸擔任執行長。
依照Sam Altman在「X」發表聲明，這幾天所作決定都是為了保OpenAI團隊既有使命，因此選擇加入微軟。但在目前OpenAI董事會同意改組情況下，自然也願意回歸OpenAI繼續推動人工智慧技術發。

而改組後的OpenAI董事會，將由前Salesforce執行長Bret Taylor、前美國財政部長Larry Summers加入成為新任董事成員，更由Bret Taylor擔任董事會主席。至於原本就是OpenAI董事成員的Quora創辦人Adom D』Angelo則會繼續留任，後續也會繼續招募新董事成員。

另外，原本在Sam Altman遭開除後接手擔任執行長的Twitch共同創辦人Emmett Shear，在Sam Altman確定回歸擔任OpenAI執行長之後卸任。
在Sam Altman重新接任OpenAI執行長之後，可以確認接下來與微軟之間合作將會更加密切，同時也能避免OpenAI技術人才大幅流失，同時也預期能與更多業者繼續合作。
