Sony 將在今晚台灣時間七點於德國進行 IFA 的主題演講活動，不過似乎負責影片直播的人出了包，不慎將帶有簡報畫面的排演中片段串流到直播頻道，其中也確認 Xperia 的新機並未如先前謠傳稱為 Xperia 2 ，而是以 Xperia 5 做為正式名稱。此外 Xperia 5 也預計在十月於歐洲上市，提供黑、白、藍與洋紅色。

同時從影片截圖的宣傳視覺，可看到 Xperia 5 採用 21:9 的 OLED HDR 螢幕，另外 Sony 將獨家為 Xperia 1 與 Xperia 5 提供 Dual Shock 搖桿的全功能支援，看起來 Sony 有意進一步強化 Xperia 與其它 Sony 產品的關聯性。
