NVIDIA 圖靈架構為 GeForce RTX 20 帶來即時光線追蹤與 AI 技術, RTX 將使遊戲中的光影宛若真實世界

Turing /圖靈是繼首度導入 GPU 概念的 GeForce 256 之後第八世代 GPU 架構,而在今年 GDC 大會攜手微軟的 DXR 規範、所發表的 NVIDIA RTX 即時光線追蹤技術,可說是為此次 Turing /圖靈架構鋪路,在導入專門針對光線追蹤的 RT Core 後,結合 Tensor Core 的 AI 技術,終於能在單張 GPU 達成即時光線追蹤技術。

也如 SIGGRAPH 發表會一樣,這場活動再度從開始介紹光線追蹤技術的發展開始,畢竟 Turing /圖靈架構最大的特色,就是在 Volta 架構加入針對人工智慧的 Tensor Core 之後,加入支援即時光線追蹤的 RT Core ,為 GPU 發展歷史首度帶來即時的光線追蹤技術。

當然此次同樣也強調透過單張 GeForce 進行原本需要 4 張 Tesla V100 才能實現、基於 Unreal 4 Engine 的星際大戰展示:當然首批基於 Turing /圖靈架構的 GPU ,也如同其姊妹品 Quadro RTX 8000 / RTX 6000 有相同的性能,具備 14TFLOPS + 14TIPS 的性能,以及具備 110 TFLOPS FP16 的 Tensor Core 性能,還有最重要的 10 Giga Rays 的 RT Core 。

同時黃仁勳也為此次 Turing /圖靈架構的特性,表示業界對於性能需要有全新的定義,以一張圖表講解對於 Turing /圖靈架構而言, 1 Frame 需進行相當複雜的運算過程,包含光線追蹤、 FT32 與 INT32 Shading 、機器學習的流程,將這些程序統合提出名為 RTX-OPS 的效能計算單位,並指出 具備 78 RTX-OPS 的運算性能。

在介紹即時光線追蹤的最後,也不免俗的再度展示在今年 SIGGRAPH 亮相的 Project SOL 短片,並強調透過單卡達成此項技術展示。

介紹完即時光線追蹤後,黃仁勳將話鋒一轉,回到目前 NVIDIA 重點技術發展: AI 與深度學習領域,強調透過 AI 與深度學習技術,為近代影像應用帶來驚人的革新,包括為舊照片上色、應用在自動駕駛的機器視覺辨識、虛擬染髮、圖片解析升頻、將斷層變成 3D 模型等功能。

此時也帶出 Turing /圖靈所支援的新技術: DLSS / Deep Learning Super-Sampling,這是透過深度學習技術將其應用在動態影像提升品質的技術。同時提出全新的影像處理框架 NVIDIA NGX ,這是一項利用深度學習作為基礎的 AI 影像處理技術;而 DLSS 也將為遊戲與 CG 帶來更精細的影像,透過深度學習技術,為低解析度影像、鋸齒等狀況進行強化,使影像具備更細膩、逼真的細節。

同時,與 NVIDIA 此次與 Eidos 工作室深度合作的全新遊戲: Shadow of the Tomb Raider /古墓奇兵:暗影也將針對此次 Turing /圖靈的 RTX 技術進行深度整合,將在這款預計於九月上市的大作,針對可啟用 RTX 即時光線追蹤特效。在發表會也進行實機展示,讓觀眾比較 RTX 開啟前後光影特性的差異。

另一款預計會支援 RTX 技術的遊戲,則是將於 2019 年 2 月上市,由 4A Games 開發的 Metro Exodus 戰慄深邃:流亡,在展示中的高反差房間環境,個別以傳統直接光線、透過增加假光源以及使用 RTX 技術即時光線追蹤作為效果比較,感受在即時光線追蹤加持下更逼真的的自然光效果。

其它預計會導入 RTX 即時光線追蹤技術的遊戲,還有擬真係賽車遊戲 Asseto Corsa Competizone ,還有 EA 旗下 EA DICE 工作室開發的新一代 FPS 大作、與二戰作為時空背景的 Battlefield V /戰地風雲 5 ,而戰地風雲 5 的技術展示中,一旦關閉 RTX ,就會發現背景失去相當多光影的反射結果,同時宣布有多款新作以及幾款熱門大作如 Final Fantacy XV 、 PRBG 絕地求生將透過 Patch 支援 RTX 即時光線追蹤。

  • 補充一下 DLSS 跟傳統遊戲反鋸齒技術的不同,嚴格來說 DLSS 不是反鋸齒技術,而是基於 AI 的影像清晰強化技術; DLSS 是利用機器學習的方式,透過建立與支援的遊戲相關的動態模糊影片補正到清晰動態影片的學習模型,並透過在啟用此 DLSS 模式後,就會下載該遊戲的對應 DLSS 模型,理論上由於此強化過程會由 Tensor Core 執行,可在幾乎不消耗 CUDA Core 的資源下提升遊戲中動態影像的細節
